Good News Everyone!

Don't know if you have heard but Marvel are bringing back the First Death's Head!!

http://marvel.com/news/comicstories.9122.Chicago_Con_~apos~09~colon~_S~dot~W~dot~O~dot~R~dot~D~dot~_Ongoing

"And in the first issue, as I needed a bounty hunter for a plot beat, I'm using the first Death's Head. Yes, he's dead. But if you can't bring back a time-traveling dimension-skipper, who can you bring back?"

Sandstorm-Iraq-CampTaji-Apr

Sandstorm-Iraq-CampTaji-Apr, originally uploaded by Armdour.

I found a bunch of photos here: http://iraqiexpat.blogspot.com/2005/05/iraq-sandstorm-photos.html of the April 2005 sandstorm at Al Asad and realised there there was a panorama to be made from them so I stitched them together!

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

The cathedral that never was

Section, originally uploaded by Slippy-23.

This is the model for Liverpool's unbuilt Catholic Cathedral from the 30's. Truly monumental in scale, it would have been taller than St. Paul's in London and St. Peters in Rome!

Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyen it would have cost £3m before the war when it was commissioned, and the Crypt built but that had rose to £27m in '47 so they had a competition for something else cheaper and got the ugly (imho) £1.8m 'Paddy's Wigwam' design. Shame really- this monster would have dominated Liverpool's skyline!

Thanks to Slippy-23 for the pic.

Cool Thing

Was digging into Mutants & Masterminds rpg today and found a thread for Mancerbear who is a very cool Supers artist. After spotting a link I found his LJ too. He seems like a very nice bloke who's getting back into drawing after some personal crap slowed his production down.

Well good luck Mancerbear! I'll be watching for your stuff!

800-pound Best Friend

Wii Japan has the weridest things....

Here's a game for the Wii I suspect we won't see in the UK:

Namco is bringing its bodybuilders-running-through-buildings arcade game Muscle Koushinkyoku (lit. "Muscle March") to the Japanese WiiWare Channel.

Well a good mate suggested I try Left4Dead and after all the stuff I have heard/read I decided what the heck.... even though normally I can't stand FPS games.

Well I still suck at it... lowest kill stats, most med packs etc, however if they where giving awards for 'Best Impression of a panicked civi with a machine gun' I'd win gold!!

Still I'll keep playing simply cos its amazing fun. It feels cinematic, and the social aspect of playing with friends mean it does not feel like a Doom, or a Halflife to me. It *is* much more like a movie than most other games.

Damm Tanks though..... knocked me off the skyscraper hospital and then off the helicopter pad......grrr.....

Retun of my Muse?

I used to write. I used to write a lot. Then somtething happened and I stopped dead leavign several polt in mid-flow and stories unresvoled. My Muse had gone on vacation.

I thought she might be away for a while but that short break turned into a major holiday and then into a major stay away.

However last night something clicked and bags in hand my Muse turned up again with flowers for her absence, so i let her in.

We'll see if shes stayign for long or just picking up her post.....

Beast vs Beast

Thoughts based on this picture:

Beast vs Beast

Now wouldn't it be funny if D.r McCoy was trapped in some weird alternative past where the only thing around was his HUGE Gothic castle.... he pulls himself out of the driving rain to be greeted by an empty hall.... he wanders for a bit aware hes being watched by multiple scared beings.... suddenly he sniffs a lit fire and heads towards it.... just as he gets to the door its ripped open by a huge growling, furred figure...."oh my stars and garters..."

Prez O

So Prez O reads Spider-Man?

I wonder if he can persuade Marvel to reverse BND?

Also when Pres O and Spidey met why didn't Spidey ask for the charges against him to be dropped and/or Pres O do it later and/or Pres O asks Spidey to come answer the charges against him?

Then again perhaps I should stop trying to make the Marvel U make sence.....

Underworld 3

Hum....

Well its not a horror movie- the spurts of blood where comical rather than icky. The Vamps where hardly scary, though I thought Bill Nighty was good OTT fun. The Werewolfs/Lycan's where not scary either- though it was good to see them using tactics and not getting totally screwed by the Vamps this time. Still we know it happens later so one victory hardly counts!

Werewolf FX was good. Nothing we have not seen before, but having that many Lycans on screen at the same time was cool. They made a lot of use of blur and shadows to cover any cgi errors; even the daylight was murky and washed out!

Only thing that got me was I was sure that in Underworld 1 they said that Lycans where not tied to the moon..... yet in this one it seemed Lucius could not transform unless the moon was out... which is way he failed at several of his goals throughout!

Still entetaining romp.
